If you dig hard enough, you can still find Locationless caches on GC.COM. OK, they're archived, but it doesn't stop 'em being logged :P

Not saying that going hell-for-leather for 'em is the done thing, but bagging one or two for the icon won't do any harm!

You could try :o but not succeed :o sorry but their all Locked :D which means no editing by the owner of the cache, nor can anyone make a log to it. And nope I'm not unlocking any of them either  :P

Archived caches are viewable for reference purposes, that includes Locationless caches :D

Does that mean you COULD if you wanted to?

I think one possibility for logging a locless would be to find an old virtual which was miscategorized

Log a find and then tell TPTB that it should have been a locless.
Here's an example: GCC349

I least I can console myself with the knowledge that they were all locked well before I even started caching.

However, GC5152 was still unlocked six months AFTER you started PuP!

I got 7 i think before they were locked..... I put some effort in to give some information especially for the locks one
Now an EX-Bargee, moved onto land,
Boat sold.....sad.

Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate,

The annoying is is that they were still active when I started (not for long!) but I never bothered with them. I wish I had now.

I wonder if it is possible to nick one off someone else ... by editing the cache log? Hmmm ....

Or if I was to change the cache type on one of my archived ones ..... Hmmmmm again ;)

Or if we were to hold Deci at gunpoint .....

Or test the other two reviewers and see if they are still a bit green

Sorry I wasn't joking when I said their Locked. I couldn't even post a Reviewer note to one without unlocking it. A Locked cache will not accept any type of log whatever the date of the log. Not even a cache owner can post any details to one :D

1219 cachers registered the same day as you PuP.
Simply find one which has a locless find on it but is no longer used and email them asking if you can have their ID

request a name change for your main id from popuppirate to something else.

request a name change for your newly acquired id to Popuppirate

Re-log all existing finds under your new id

Job done!

Ermm nope sorry not possible. You can only change the user name of a account to a unregistered name. Once a name has been registered it's locked down in the Database

It's a disgrace! the weather vane at Lords wasn't logged. This must represent a Prima facie case to unarchive it to allow someone to do the necessary
A neutron walks into a bar and asks how much for a drink. The bartender replies "for you, no charge"
A nearby proton turns to his friend and says "That neutron just got a free drink"; the friend replies "are you positive?"

It would be better if everyones profile had all the icons but with a count of 0 against some, this angst would then probably dissapear.
Same applies to geocoins etc.

Whats the use in hunting for the elusive cache icons then ;)

I was really excited a few weeks ago and happily went to Tatton Park specially for this Wherigo [wherigo]The Tatooine Incident It was great to finally get the icon. I think the only one I need now is the CITO one I should get in May and a webcam cache I should be able to get in Belfast in April :D

There's quite a few other icons apart from that you can only get in America, nds benchmarks, and there's actually a travelling Garmin exhibition that you can log.

These are about the most un-exciting things we've ever done while caching as they tend to be little metal nipple things on a concrete plinth and usually hidden by long grass. They don't even count towards your total finds, so the only reason to do them is to get the icon :(.

And not only that, as a newbie to 'benchmarking' when you log one, someone will quite probably come along and tell you that what you found wasn't quite the right thing and imply your log should be deleted/edited. US benchmarking is a boring waste of time IMO, Groundspeak play it down well on the site and for good reason :P At least UK trigs are normally in nice hilltop locations

Some of them are just ridiculous, how hard can this be to find:

I looked at waymarking and beat a hasty retreat from the website. Just what is the point of having just about every branch of <insert name of retail outlet> as a waymark?

Which is why Locationless caches got axed - they were rapidly heading that way. I'm sure there are worthy waymarks that lead to really nice places to visit but yep, most of them seem to be pointless to me at least.

I believe your talking about the GPS Maze it's actually a Groundspeak Project in collaboration with Minotaur Mazes.

If you know of a suitable venue willing to host it for 3 months, and can raise I believe £50,000 + international shipping. Then you can bring the Maze to the UK.

Hehe, iirc, you need to log it on the wherigo site as well, which requires you to upload your 'end' of the cartridge. if you cant do that due to not having followed the wherigo, the co might/possibly will delete your log :P

Some have log dates from 2005.
I know these are fictitious though as these links all came through in notification emails

Please take this up directly with Groundspeak, they will give you a explanation I'd suggest using appeals@geocaching.com for a quicker response. Other than I'm aware that some logs are outstanding, I'm unable to reply sorry.

Sorry I wasn't joking when I said their Locked. I couldn't even post a Reviewer note to one without unlocking it. A Locked cache will not accept any type of log whatever the date of the log. Not even a cache owner can post any details to one :D

Lackeys can though
