Great weather for being out today.

I found a couple of cachless ruins out on the moors :o didn't think there were any left!
Mind you, the tussocks were man-eating
You'll love it (maybe) :D

Well done Tina on your first FTF :D :D :D :D
I can still remember mine I was so excited!
It does make you realise how much easier many caches become once they have been retrived and replaced a few times.

You never forget your first.... FTF

Tussocks are good...
The measure of a great moorland cache is when you almost lose a boot in an unsighted boggy hole between two tussocks

We had a bit of a late start on the "where's Walace" series. It threatened rain but we managed to stay dry all the way round. We were absolutely bushed after the series and arrived home about 8:00pm in the dark (were has summer gone :o ). What a great series the views of Preston and Blackpool on route (even though slightly overcast) are superb. We have walked around here loads of times when April was Akela in cubs from Waddecar scout camp but this route took us to some places we hadn't walked before :D . Shame about the Cross Keys pub being closed down, I was well ready for a pint at this point. A well recommended series for anyone on here that hasn't done it yet.

Caching round Pendle today, had a great time, now absolutely knackered!
On my way to the second last, the Red Arrows did a flypast! :D

Rather too many micros up there for my taste, and I DNF'd a few of them. :( I guess the CO is new to caching. They have also put out one really big container, but there's next to nothing in it :o

Best cache of the day was undoubtebdly Nandad's Doggy Puzzle. Emma's 25th is in a great location too.

[rant]
One of the micros I couldn't find was right next to a cairn. Now this cairn was erected by member of Clayton-le-Moors Harriers to commemorate the lives of two of their members who died in separate accidents in 1994, and there is a plaque on the cairn to this effect. But the CO has made no mention at all of this on the cache page: they just mention the view. I thought this was rather surprising, in fact I got quite angry about it. Maybe I was just over-sensitive, because they were both people I had known?

We had a flypast by the Red Arrows whilst caching on Saturday - on their way to Southport. Would have been great to have got over to Southport to see 'em but we didn't get out of bed til late on Saturday, and today I had to get to Leicester to settle Lauren into her uni digs. :)

Well warranted Rant there FFloss. When we placed "Emma's coin cache" we were spoilt for places to hide it but I didn't want to make it too easy. You could hide a double decker bus up there so no need what so ever for a micro especially near the cairn  . There is also a nice cairn built by the scout association up there that warrants a good cache, maybe we'll set it if a maintenance trip is needed, because I don't think we'll be heading up the hill for the few micros we've not got up there.

I think the Pendle Witch cache "Mist Over Pendle" deserves a mention in them parts too, we just sat there for ages with a brew and a butty just listening to the wind blowing through the machinery below and wondering if it was the singing ringing tree that we could here.

Great caching area, shame about the micros.

Been up on Pendle this am. Found some great places - just wish I could have seen them better- visability was poor. Finding a large cache, such as Nandads and the TB Hotel was spirit lifting, and in the case of the latter much easier in the dark at 0555, compared to looking for a micro. Saying that, looking for the micros took me to new places , where I haven't been too before - I just wish that I could have found more than I DNF'd. I aim to go back up there, and find the ones which I didn't - as they have given me a greater challenge to do :) .

Brilliant walk around Ossie Moor with Linedancers and Natty1. Tea & cake in the VC afterwards was well deserved. We even replaced some caches that had gone missing - with the CO's permission of course. ;)

A huge thank you ;) to FFloss, Natty1 and the Linedancers from myelf and Buzz (if they had smilies blowing a kiss, i'd post one for you all).

Think we were following you around today, though we were probably a few hours behind, as we spent quite a while at the Grane mushrooms (and still didn't find the cache  ), and didn't finish our walk until 5.30pm. It's probably a good job, seeing as they replaced some of the caches on the route, otherwise we'd have lots more DNF's :D.

Thanks once again

There you go ... I'll do it for you ;)

I really enjoyed the caches up on the Haslingden Grane and was disappointed to see that many of them had gone missing. I really need to go back and try the mushroom one again .. I think I know what I'm looking for after a hint from the owner .. so I want to find it and then finish the rest of the series which were also missing last time I tried :?

Had a brilliant day today out on Musbury Heights and found some FAB caches. :D :D :D
It turned out OK weatherwise, despite the dodgy start: when I heard the rain on my bedroom window this morning I turned over and went back to sleep - so I didn't get going until about 11. In the middle of the afternoon I saw a rainbow :) - a double one :D - I reckon the pot of gold is somewhere between The Chimney and Hare Clough.
At my last cache I noticed that a previous finder had mentioned in his log that the Clough Head car park closed at 5pm. Well I hadn't seen any notices but it was 6pm by then, so I DNF'd the cache and rushed off as fast as my tired legs would allow, worrying about what I was going to do. Fortunately only the "In" gate was shut, and there were a couple of cars still in the car park - but it didn't take long to realise that they were just waiting for me so they could lock up before going home
Oh and I reached 700 finds at some point during the day :D :D :D

Ghods it was a bit wet out in Manchester today, still got 4 found and 3 DNFs (or more like CBAs). The CBAs being #7, #8 & #9 of the "Most Dangerous Cache in Manchester" series. Having been to them, I don't know why I bothered, other than for the numbers. I have to say that the walk from #9, past #8 to #7 left me feeling creeped out.

At least I got to dry off by wandering round Manchester Museum gently steaming. Had a quite interesting conversation with one of the staff whilst looking at the Charles Darwin Exhibition. Then spent the rest of the afternoon with a bunch of Goths in The Salisbury. A good but damp day out.

My most successful day caching yet. Got up early and took the bus to Boggart Hole Clough to do the BHC series. I actually managed to find all 14 caches hidden in the park! Its the first time Ive set out to find a lot of caches and didnt log a single DNF. Im very interested in local folklore and the story of the woods being haunted by a Boggart made the experience even more spooky in the foggy morning air... Got really muddy and tired out climbing all the hills and jumping over streams... and I got home with a couple hours to spare before I started work :) Im now at 61 finds, I must be starting to develop my special geo-sense!
Shame theres not a medal for this series though...

the dogs and I walked the second stage of the Pennine way from crowden to stanedge yesterday over black hill. lucky with o nly low cloud which cleared by 11.30m and no rain, great walk.
only 4 caches and 1 dnf in 12 odd miles, could have got more but didnt fancy bog trotting off the paved path and adding to the mileage.

walked the 4th stage of the pennine way today 11 miles plus cache detours, from hebden bridge/ calderdale to ponden reservoir near howarth via walsden reservoirs and top withens, spent alot of the time humming kate bush...... :o
8 caches en route as well. :P
Now an EX-Bargee, moved onto land,
Boat sold.....sad.

Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate,
And though I oft have passed them by, A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run, West of the Moon, East of the Sun.

It's likely we were victims of the weather dumping vast quantities of leaves along the fence/hedge line.
