Trackables now Collectibles?

Postby Mark » Fri Mar 12, 2010 9:13 am

Any else noticed that the heading for the Trackables page in your GC.com profile now says

Collectible Information for User:

Wonder why/when that was changed...

Maybe they have finally realised what happens to all really nice looking coins out in the wild when a less than honest cacher finds one they like .

I know it's happened to loads of ours and is the reason we won't ever release any more coins.

That'll have changed in last night's downtime I would have thought. I'm sure that this time yesterday it said "Trackables".

We've only ever released coins that we've won as FTF prizes etc and a high proportion have gone awol
Some clown has had one of ours for well over a year and keeps making excuses for not dropping it anywhere.
Beats me why they bothered logging it out of the cache in the first place

Our TBs fair much better and none of them have gone missing (yet) so it obvious to me that the coins are being stolen (as opposed to cache demise)

For me the TBs have faired worse:

Coins released 21 remaining 7 (33%)
TBs released 17 remaining 3 (18%)

Personally, I don't think many people deliberately take coins knowing they are trackables. I reckon it's a lack of knowledge and the fact that all trackables disappear eventually.

I'm not sure that calling them "collectibles" is going to help the matter though

I think they made this switch a while ago when they made the full site design change and quickly rolled it back due to 'user feedback'... Perhaps it slipped back in quietly in the hope nobody would notice ;)

Ah! I'm glad somebody else has noticed this.

I saw it this afternoon and thought, "When did it become Collectibles?" :!:

I think it's a poor choice of words, to say the least. I've put it into a topic on the GSP Website forum.

Thanks!

I didn't bother because... well... no need to say why.

You have no idea how many times a type a suggestion and then think 'Ah sod it!' before posting and don't bother :(

Oh well.

It got a speedy response from Opinionate so I'm happy... Hopefully it'll be changed.

Something else which got changed and is causing people to log incorrectly .... events ... used to have Will Attend at the top of the pull down list, now has Attended. Flaming irritating! :x

That's a really daft one, first log type surely is a 'WILL ATTEND' I don't get why these things have been arsed about with, yeh things need tweaking but why is there 3 times as mmany issues after each 'tweak' ? the annoying click the clue and go back to the top of the page is ever present, I really do like the variance options when you type in a destination though, that's great and great bit of useful kit, but why can't they sort the simple things ? I'm no software engineer but they must know ot have a good idea of what folks want ?

When you type in an "address" in the search box it gives you a list of matches rather than just taking you straight to where it thinks you mean (which was previously almost always in America). You used to be able to get around it sometimes by typing "uk" at the end, but it would still frequently take you to a totally different place in the UK with the same name.
