DELAMERE FOREST PERMISSION

Postby mo and mike » Tue Jan 22, 2013 8:42 pm

The Forestry Commission Land at Delamere Forest and Primrose Woods near Kelsall, Cheshire, are working forests with a 5 year rotational maintenance programme, felling, thinning and planting trees.
Having had a meeting recently, with Richard Topley, Forestry manager, based at Delamere Forest, recently, I have established that caches can be placed within the above forests, as long as geocachers adhere to certain conditions.
If placed as per the conditions everybody will be happy.
Mo and Mike have all the above details and map areas within the forests of the agreed no-go areas,
If anybody is interested in placing caches then contact at mo-and-mike@tiscali.co.uk
They will email back the above details and map.

Well done to Mike for sorting this out. As I live on the edge of the forest it's always been a bit of an anomaly. My first ever cache was in Primrose Hill wood before the Forestry Commission asked me to remove it along with two or three others in the area.

Well done Mo and Mike! Although we're not likely to actually place any caches in the forest it's one of our favourite caravanning haunts so look forward to seeing how many little boxes appear!

Another post to say thanks for arranging this - Delamere has always appeared as a strange black hole in the local area as somewhere ideally suited to caching but devoid of the little blighters!!

Let's hope someone takes advantage of this new location to put out some quality caches which my kids can find on one of our many weekend walks in the forest. Perhaps even I'll get round to it!!

Cooool.

I had a cache placement bounced back when I was (even more of) a Noob.
At the time I think the GAGB had rebuffed the Forestry's offer of "you can place caches here but it will cost you".

It's such a nice place with lots of nooks and crannies, I just hope it gets the nice big Ammo cans it deserves. :-)

Great news, well done.
I have fond memories of visiting Delamere Forest as a child, it will be great to have a reason to return :)
