Church Micro awards

Postby bargee72 » Mon Feb 11, 2013 10:45 am

The retlentless tide of another series is making inroads into Manchester with meltediceburg placing some new ones today in Ashton-under-lyne.

Did you know there is an awards system and another counter for your stats page.

I was aware of them but I haven't actually done any of the series, largely because there aren't any (that I know of) in the loca area.

The idea of visiting and interesting church to find the information for location for the cache is a good one and I have done a number of caches like this that are not part of the series. It's just a shame they're micros as that part of the name does put me off.

I did 4 when down in Kent a few years back and they were still good and one wasnt a micro, and all 4 were offset multis, I think that even if they are a micro you know that the area they should take you to is interesting and historic, ie a church building which may excuse a micro hide.
and the cache page is usually informative too.
the churches i vsited in kent around Brands Hatch were all Flint built, much different from the sandstone in cheshire and the stone in West Yorkshire.

but church visiting has been a popular pastime for a long long time too

I found the one in Ashton this morning on my way to work - my first FTF and my second Church find. I'll keep a lookout for more local Church caches - it would be nice to have some sort of medal on my profile as I'm just starting with caching.

So for the PC unsavvy or near illiterate ;) does this mean that the profile badge displays the amount of “Church Micro” caches found by the user rather than their overall finds :o ? If it does, just how does it do it  ? Is it some sort of black magic or voodoo jigery pokery :? ? I'm only asking on behalf of those others of course 8-) who don't understand that sort of thing as I know all about electrons and stuff  .

Hypothetically; if it does display the number of finds of church micro caches how would I, err, 'cough' , I mean 'they' go about finding where said church micro caches are? Is there a special code in the cache to link them all together? Again I'm only asking on behalf of those less savvy ;) who may be feeling the urge to dash out to gain a different profile badge  .

Cheers

Schnuz.

Hahaarrgghh yeah goin' to PIRATEMANIA VI 2013? The only MEGA PIRATE event in the UK to attend? More details to follow as it hasn't been arranged yet, although it might be somewhere around Stratford Racecourse, Stratford upon Avon ;) . Hahaarrgghh, be seein' yah thar yah filthy landlubbers!
